Eat + Drink

Butcher’s Daughter

A mecca for diners on Venice Beach’s stylish Abbott Kinney Boulevard, the Butcher’s Daughter is the kind of airy, light-filled, super-chic restaurant you find in the movies. But everything in it is 100% vegan: As they say ‘We treat fruits and vegetables as a butcher would meat: chopping, filleting & carving fresh produce into healthy vegetarian dishes and pressing them into pretty juices.’

Homegirl Cafe

The legendary Homegirl Cafe is part of Homeboy industries which gives former LA gang members a chance to learn new skills and develop a new life. A great spot to pick up breakfast – don’t miss the Xilaquiles!

Everytable

We love the fresh salads and grain bowls at Everytable – and it’s even more delicious when you realize that you’re subsidizing meals in underserved neighborhoods with every purchase. You can even pay forward a meal for someone else in need!

Plant Food + Wine

One of our favorite places to relax and have a glass of wine is the shady garden at Plant Food + Wine on Abbot Kinney in Venice. The restaurant serves incredible vegan fare, but the list of organic and bio-dynamic wine is what really separates them from the rest of LA’s restaurants.

Alta Adams

Where do Jay-Z and Puff Daddy go to eat when in Los Angeles? The answer is the supercool Alta Adams restaurant in the hip West Adams neighborhood. Chef Keith Corbin's inspiring story - he's a former gang member who is now giving jobs to other formerly incarcerated people - is matched only by his delicious 'California Soul' cooking.

SÜPRMARKT

Olympia Auset is on a mission to bring healthy food to underserved communities in Los Angeles. SÜPRMARKT is a café and store selling organic produce, prepared meals, and safe household products that would transform the health and wellbeing of her community.

Shop

General Store

The General Store is a Los Angeles based boutique specializing in 80s and 90s vintage clothing, aimed to provide you with a sense of nostalgia through classic brands proven 'tried and true' over the years.

Galerie La

As part of the global 15% Percent Pledge to support black owned businesses, we recommend checking out Dechel McKillian’s supercool clothing store which highlights sustainable brands and products, from around the world.

Decades

LA is vintage heaven and Decades is the store to find rare and unique pieces from Los Angelenos with taste. Pick up pre-owned designer wear for low prices and a clean conscience.

Experiences

The SUAY center for REUSE + REPAIR

Want to learn about how to upcycle clothes? Their new hub in the Arts District features traceable recycling, in-house repairs, expanded community dye bath options, classes and workshops, curated thrift and upcycled collections, career development + education opportunities, nationwide expansion of services, a new SUAY web experience, and community events.

Hashtag Lunchbag

A fun way to give back is to attend one of Hashtag Lunchbag’s Saturday morning events (complete with DJ’s and a warm friendly atmosphere) where you can help make sandwiches and goodie-bags for the homeless – and help give them out in local neighborhoods.

Venice Community Gardens

A wonderful way to experience the neighborhood of Venice is to go on a tour with Nicole Landers of Venice Community Gardens, who manages planters which feature free fruits and vegetables which can be taken by anyone in need. Learn about urban gardening and how communities can give back and support each other.

Stay

1Hotel West Hollywood

If you feel like splurging, the 1Hotel West Hollywood is the best in eco-chic sustainability, featuring reclaimed materials, energy efficiency and overall ‘sustainable luxury’ philosophy.

Venice Beach Eco-cottages

For a more fun and quirky vibe, the Venice Beach Eco-Cottages offer a solar-powered alternative just minutes from the beach with three cabins: the masculine Papa Hemingway, the 1940’s-inspired Aunt Zoe’s Place, or the 1960’s Parisian Le Bébé Cottage.
